Roof Replacement Before & After Photos

When a storm left this homeowner with a leaking roof, the Brown Roofing team came to the rescue. Brand new IKO Dynasty shingles make this roof look fantastic, and provide extra protection against further roof damage. The roof on this home was in rough shape and definitely needed to be replaced, to start there were portions of the roof that never really saw the sun allowing for moss and algae to grow. Additionally, there were shingles on a slope of the roof where a flat roofing system should have been installed, because of this water was getting through the shingles and into the attic.

The first step to this installation was to rip up all the old shingles and underlayments down to the decking layer. During our initial inspection, we saw rotting plywood up in the attic so we knew that a few sheets would need to be replaced. Once the old and rotting plywood was replaced we moved on to installing the underlayments. First is our Sealeron Ice and Water, then our Sealeron Deck Tape, and finally our Velora One Synthetic Felt Paper. These three underlayments seal and protect the roof decking creating an insulating, watertight yet breathable layer around the roof. 

Finally, we can move on to installing the shingles and this homeowner decided on our IKO Dynasty Glacier shingles, this color matched perfectly with the brick around their home. When installing the shingles we always start at the bottommost corner of the home and work our way up ensuring that the shingles are layered properly. We also installed an EPDM or rubber roof on the portion of the roof that required it. This is going to ensure that sitting water will not be able to seep underneath and into the attic like before.

For this home, we needed to replace the entire roof. Once we ripped up the old shingles, we noticed mold growing on the underlayment, which points to leaks in the roof. As we finished removing this layer, the decking layer was revealed, which was in pretty bad shape. All the sheets needed to be replaced and some of the rafters needed to be repaired. Once these were fixed we laid the new decking layer on. Next was the underlayment and Ice and Water, these act as a second layer of protection against the elements. Finally, we installed the shingles and this homeowner decided to go with our Aged Copper Shingles. With their new roof, these homeowners can be certain that they will be safe and dry for many years to come.

When this homeowner called us out to their house and we saw this roof, we knew it was going to be a tough job. The condition of the roof was one of the worst we have seen in a while. The old shingles were ripped off, followed by the rotten decking layer. We laid down a new plywood decking layer and new underlayment, along with Ice and Water. These three layers will ensure that if water somehow gets through the shingles, it won't leak through to the rest of the house. After all the layers were down, we installed the shingles, and this homeowner decided on our IKO Dynasty Granite Black Shingles. This was such a great choice as it perfectly went with the rest of the house. Now the customer has a dry, safe roof that is guaranteed for the next 50 years!
