The roof on this home was in an extremely bad condition all the shingles were waterlogged, and there was moss, lichen, and algae growing all over. On top of that the shingles had color fade due to old age.
The first thing we did was remove the shingles so we could see why there was so much growth and water. To no surprise, the plywood underneath was soaked, rotting, and moldy. We replaced the rotted sheets and added extra support to the joists just to be sure.
Next, we laid down decking tape, Sealeron Ice and Water, and a synthetic underlayment. These three layers help protect and insulate the roof.
Finally, we can install the shingles and this customer decided on our IKO Dynasty Sentinel Slate Shingles. When installing the shingles we always start from the bottom and work our way up to ensure that every shingle overlaps properly. This overlap is what directs the water off the roof and away from the home. As we install the shingles we also install flashings around all the openings in the roof, and anywhere the shingles touch the siding.
In one short day, this homeowner had a brand new roof installed that is guaranteed to last for 50 years.

The crew replaced the roof on this beautiful Branford, CT home with IKO Dynasty Shingles in Graphite Black!
The roof on this home was in fairly good shape for its age but there was still some algae growth. The main reason that we replaced this roof was because a few of the rafters were rotted and needed to be replaced.
It was good that this customer jumped on this quickly because if they had waited until something terrible happened then the repair cost would have been so much more. The first step to this repair was gaining access to the rafter, to do this we need to rip up the shingles and the surrounding decking layer. While we had the shingles up we also noticed a few sheets that needed to be replaced. Now that we had access we could cut out the rotted wood and install a brand new piece. After this, we replaced the missing plywood and moved on to the next step.
Next, we installed decking tape, Sealeron Ice and Water, and a synthetic underlayment. These three layers combined help seal the roof and they act as a final barrier in the event the shingles were damaged. This layer also helps insulate the roof creating a more eco-friendly and efficient environment.
Finally, we can lay down the shingles and flashings. We always start from the bottom edge and work our way up, we do this to ensure that the water runs off the roof instead of under the shingles. We also install flashings on all the openings like the vents and chimneys. Now that the roof is on, the customer can have peace of mind knowing that their rafter is fixed and their home is safe.
