Before: Aerial View
From this bird's-eye view, you can really see the worn shingles and streaks of algae on Jeremy's old roof. Time to say goodbye to the grime and hello to a fresh new roof!

Preparing for the Teardown
Before the teardown begins, the crew lays out large tarps across the property and hangs others from the roof edges to catch falling debris. It's all part of making cleanup more efficient and keeping the homeowner's property safe and protected.

The Teardown Begins
The crew strips off all of the old shingles, revealing the layer of plywood underneath. This is called the sheathing, and it is the structural foundation of the roof.

New Plywood Is Installed
As the structural foundation of the roof, the health of the sheathing is essential. Any areas found with damage, such as rot or mold, are removed and replaced with strong new CDX plywood to ensure a healthy and solid base for the new shingles.

Seams Are Taped & Underlayment Is Installed
The seams of each plywood sheet are taped up with all-weather deck tape. After that, a layer of underlayment is installed over the entire surface. This thin, water-resistant material protects the sheathing from harsh elements that could cause moisture damage, like rain, snow, and ice.

Ready for New Shingles
With all of the underlayment in place, a drip edge flashing is installed along all of the edges of the roof. This is a thin metal barrier that prevents water from seeping under the edge, instead directing it away from the fascia and into the gutters. After that is securely installed and also taped at the seams with deck tape, it's finally time to start installing the new shingles!

New Shingles Are Installed
Brown Roofing proudly installs premium-laminated IKO Dynasty shingles for all roof backed by our 50-year warranty! These heavyweight architectural shingles come in a variety of shades, and Jeremy has selected the beautiful color of Driftshake to perfectly complement his home.

New Flashing on the Chimney
New flashing is installed on the side of the chimney where it meets the roof. Like the drip edge, this thin metal barrier ensures a watertight seal on an otherwise vulnerable junction.
