The Old Roof
Here's what Andrea's roof looked like before the renovation. Those three-tab shingles have got to go! Click through to see the awesome transformation.

Preparing for the Teardown
Before the crew starts taking off the old roof, large tarps are hung around the edges of the roof to protect the property from damage and catch falling debris, making cleanup a more efficient process.

The Decking
Once all of the old shingles are removed, the layer of plywood underneath is exposed. This is called the roof decking, and it is the structural foundation of the roof. This side of Andrea's roof has a type of decking called plank decking. The crew closely examines all parts of the decking to see if there is any damage, such as rot or mold. Any damaged parts found are removed.

New Plywood Installed
The crew installs brand-new 1/2" CDX plywood cut precisely to fit into the areas where the damaged decking was removed, ensuring a strong, solid base for the new roof.

Seams Taped & Underlayment Applied
This other side of Andrea's house had sheets of plywood installed as opposed to the plank decking. In accordance with current building codes, the seams of all of the sheets are taped up with all-weather, heavy-duty deck tape. After that, a layer of underlayment is installed over the entire surface. This thin, waterproof membrane shields the decking from harmful elements like rain, wind, snow, and ice.

New Shingles Are Installed
Now it's time to install the new shingles! For her new roof, Andrea has selected the stunning Cornerstone from our IKO Dynasty collection. These premium-laminated architectural shingles are proudly backed by our 50-year warranty.

New Flashing for the Chimney
The crew installs fresh flashing where the chimney meets the roof, creating a watertight barrier to protect against leaks.

The Finished Product
Once the last details were in place and the crew made sure everything was tidy, Andrea's roof was complete!

The New Roof
Beautiful and built to last, Andrea's new roof will be keeping her dry for decades to come.
