The Roof Before
Here's what Darlene's roof looked like before the replacement. Click through to see the expert transformation!

The Teardown Begins
The crew starts things off by carefully stripping the old shingles off of the roof. Before the teardown process begins, the crew hangs up large tarps around the edges of the roof and lays tarps across the yard to ensure that the property is fully protected from falling debris. In addition, this helps make the cleanup process a lot more efficient.

The Sheathing Is Exposed
Underneath the old shingles is a layer of plywood called the roof sheathing. This is the structural foundation of the roof. The crew will closely examine the entire surface for any signs of damage in the sheathing, such as rot or mold.

New Underlayment Is Installed
The crew determined that Darlene's sheathing was in tip-top shape and did not need to be replaced. The next step is to install underlayment over the sheathing. This is a thin, waterproof material that helps protect the plywood from harmful elements like rain, wind, snow, and ice.

Drip Edge Flashing Is Installed
Once all of the underlayment is installed, drip edge flashing is installed around all of the edges of the roof. This thin metal barrier prevents water from seeping into the roof and helps channel it away from the fascia and into the gutters.

New Shingles Are Installed
Now it's finally time to install the new shingles! For her new roof, Darlene selected the sleek shade of Dual Gray from our IKO Cambridge collection to perfectly complement her home.

New Ridge Vent Is Installed
To keep airflow balanced and healthy, a shingle vent is installed along the ridge of the roof. This vent lets warm, moist air exit the attic, helping prevent condensation and long-term issues.

New Flashing on Chimney
New flashing is installed on the side of the chimney where it meets the roof. This thin metal barrier is adhered and caulked into place, ensuring a watertight seal along this junction.

The Roof After
After a couple of finishing touches and a comprehensive cleanup of the entire property, Darlene's new roof is complete and ready to shine!
