Roof Replacement Photo Album: A New Roof for Decades of Protection in Bethany, CT

Alan and Kristen from Bethany reached out to Brown Roofing after noticing a leak in their 25-year-old roof. After seeing our process and hearing about all the work we do, they were excited to move forward with a full roof replacement. Project Manager Bill and his crew got to work, reinforcing the sheathing and installing beautiful new shingles that will keep their home safe and dry for decades. The Roof Before

Prepping the Property

Before the crew begins the teardown, they set up large tarps around the edges of the roof and over the yard to ensure that the homeowner's property is fully protected from falling debris as well as make for a more efficient cleanup process at the end.

The Old Shingles Come Off

The crew carefully strips the old shingles off of the roof. This reveals the layer of plywood underneath, which is called the roof sheathing. This is the structural foundation of the roof.

Underlayment Is Installed

After carefully inspecting the sheathing for any signs of rot or damage, the crew reinforces it with a layer of underlayment. This thin, water-resistant membrane acts as a protective barrier, shielding the sheathing from damaging elements like rain, wind, snow, and ice.

Same for the Shed

The same exact process is being applied to Alan and Kristen's shed as well, ensuring it's just as protected and durable as their main roof.

The New Shingles Go On

Ridge Vent Is Installed

A shingle vent is placed along the roof's ridges to promote proper airflow, giving hot, humid air a way to escape and preventing harmful condensation buildup inside the attic.

New Flashing Is Installed on Chimney

Thin metal flashing is installed around the chimney where it meets the roof. This acts as a protective barrier, ensuring water can't seep into the junction and cause damage.
