The Old Roof
Here's what Alex's flat roof section looked like before. Those shingles have got to go! Click through to see the transformation.

The Teardown
The crew starts things off by stripping the old shingles off of the plywood foundation, which is called the roof sheathing.

New Sheathing
As the structural core of the roof, the sheathing must be in tip-top condition, free from damage or rot. Unfortunately, Alex's sheathing was compromised, but our crew has happy to install brand-new CDX plywood and create a brand-new sheathing.

SBS Base Installed
Now it's time for the new flat roof installation! The SBS (styrene-butadiene-styrene) roofing system is built in two layers for maximum durability. First up is the base layer, which is carefully secured to the sheathing using smoothing tools and a blowtorch, ensuring a strong, weather-resistant foundation.

The New Roof
The final step is installing the cap layer, which is carefully adhered and smoothed out just like the base. With that, the new flat roof is complete - strong, secure, and ready to stand up to the elements for years to come!
