The Roof Before
Here's what Joe's roof looked like before the renovation. Click through to see how we transformed it!

Protecting the Property
The first step of any project is to lay down large tarps to fully protect the homeowner's property from damage.

Old Shingles Come Off
After the property is thoroughly secured, the crew starts carefully stripping the old shingles off of the roof. This reveals the plywood foundation underneath, which is called the roof sheathing.

Bad Plywood Is Removed
As the structural core of the roof, the sheathing must be in tip-top shape, and any pieces that show rot, mold or other damage - like this piece here - are promptly removed and replaced.

Seams Are Taped & Underlayment Is Installed
As an extra measure of reinforcement, all of the seams of the plywood sheets are taped up with all-weather Sealoron XT tape. Next, underlayment is installed over the entire surface of the sheathing. This thin, waterproof layer of synthetic felt protects the sheathing from harsh elements like rain, wind, snow, or ice.

Drip Edge Is Installed
Drip edge flashing is carefully installed along all roof edges. This metal barrier helps protect the roof's structure by directing water away from the fascia and straight into the gutters, preventing moisture damage and improving drainage. The drip edge is nailed into place, and then also reinforced with Sealoron XT deck tape.

New Shingles Go On
Next, it's time to install the new shingles! Brown Roofing proudly uses IKO Dynasty premium-laminated shingles for all roofs backed by our 50-year warranty. These shingles come in a variety of sleek colors, and Joe has selected the gorgeous Emerald Green for his new roof.

Ridge Vent Is Installed
A shingle vent is installed along the ridge of the roof. This vent ensures proper airflow, allowing hot, humid air rising from the house a way to escape, eliminating damaging condensation buildup.

The Roof After
After a few final touches like securing flashing around all pipes and the chimney as well as installing a ridge cap over the ridge vent for a seamless look, Joe's new roof is complete - built to last and looking great!
