The Old Shingles Come Off
The crew kicks off the process by carefully stripping the old shingles off of the roof. Before the teardown starts, large tarps are laid across the house and landscape to ensure that the property is fully protected from falling debris.
New Decking Is Installed
Along with the old shingles, the old roof decking - the wooden foundation of the roof - was also removed out of necessity. The crew then installed brand-new, sturdy CDX plywood in its place, ensuring a solid foundation for the new roof.
Underlayment Is Installed
With the decking fully in place, the crew installs a layer of underlayment over the entire surface. This thin, waterproof material protects the new decking from damaging elements like wind, rain, snow, or ice.
The New Shingles Go On
Next up, installing the brand-new shingles! Melissa decided to upgrade from metal shingles to asphalt, choosing top-tier IKO Dynasty premium-laminated architectural shingles. Known for their unbeatable durability and sleek design, these shingles provide both strength and style. With a variety of colors to choose from, Melissa went with the stunning Summit Gray.
The Finished Product
Once all the shingles are securely in place, the crew finishes up by installing ridge vents to promote proper air circulation in the attic, ensuring her home stays cool and energy-efficient. Then, they carefully secure flashing around all vulnerable joints, including the pipes and chimney, to prevent leaks and weather damage. With that, Melissa's stunning new roof is officially complete - durable, beautiful, and ready to stand the test of time!
