Before: Patchy and Mossy
A closer look at Michelle's old roof shows that it was becoming wavy, with stains and small spots of moss growth indicating moisture buildup. Let's get rid of that!

The Teardown Begins
The crew starts things off by removing the old shingles, working from the top of the roof to the bottom. Before they start this part, large tarps are laid out over the property to protect the landscape from falling debris as well as pave way for an easier cleanup.

Old Decking Is Exposed
Underneath the shingles is a layer of plywood, known as the roof decking. This is the structural foundation of the roof. Michelle's decking was made of wood planks - a once common choice for decking, but is now considered a bit outdated, as sheets of plywood are now proven to be a stronger and more durable choice for decking.

New Plywood Is Installed
In order to reinforce Michelle's roof to the fullest, our crew installed plywood sheets over top of the old plank decking, ensuring the strongest foundation possible for the new roof.

Underlayment Is Installed
A layer of underlayment is adhered to the entire surface. This thin, waterproof material protects the decking from harsh elements such as rain, wind, snow, and ice.

New Shingles Go On
After the underlayment is fully in place, it's time for the crew to start installing the new IKO Dynasty shingles. Known for their premium quality and aesthetic superiority, IKO Dynasty is a Brown Roofing staple. These shingles come in a wide variety of colors, and Michelle has selected the enchanting shade of Shadow Brown for her new roof.

New Flashing on Chimney
Strong new metal flashing is installed and sealed with caulk around the chimney where it meets the roof. This thin barrier prevents water from seeping into vulnerable junctions.

The New Roof
After a few final touches like securing flashing around any roof pipes as well as the installation of a ridge vent to ensure proper air circulation, the roof is fully complete!
