The House Before
Here's a look at the roof of John and Janet's house before the renovation. The fresh look this home will have after the update will be amazing - click through to see it!

The House Before: Moss & Algae
A closer look at this valley shows the intense moisture damage that has occurred to these shingles over the years. The white spots of lichen and green clusters of moss are big signs that it's time to update this roof.

The Barn Before
In addition to their house, we're also going to be performing a stunning transformation on John and Janet's barn!

The Barn Before: Moss City
On this side of the barn, which is more shaded, a lot of moss has taken hold and started to grow. Looks like it's definitely time for some new roofs!

Old Shingles Are Stripped
The crew starts by stripping off all of the old shingles. This exposes the plywood layer underneath, which is called the roof sheathing.

Sheathing Is Examined
The roof sheathing is the structural foundation of the roof. The crew examines it closely for any signs of damage like rot or mold, and any affected areas are promptly removed and replaced with brand-new sturdy plywood.

Seams Are Taped & Underlayment Is Installed
Once the sheathing is properly sorted, the crew tapes all the seams of the plywood sheets with durable, all-weather Sealoron XT deck tape. Then, a layer of underlayment is carefully applied across the entire surface. This thin, water-resistant synthetic felt acts as a protective barrier, shielding the sheathing from the harsh elements like rain, snow, and ice.

New Shingles Go On
Next, it's time to start installing the brand-new IKO Dynasty shingles. These premium-laminated, top-of-the-line shingles are a staple at Brown Roofing for their durability and beauty. The shingles come in many colors, and John and Janet have selected the cool shade of Glacier for both their house and barn.

The Finished House
After a few finishing touches, like securing flashing around the pipes and chimneys and installing a ridge vent along the roof's ridges to ensure proper ventilation, John and Janet's new roof is complete!

The Finished Barn
John and Janet's home and barn are now equipped with beautiful, durable roofs that are built to stand the test of time.
