The Old Roof
Here's a look at Joe's roof before the makeover. From a distance, you can clearly see the noticeable shingle discoloration caused by years of moisture damage. Time for a fresh start with a new roof for Joe!

The Old Shingles Come Off
The crew begins by stripping off the old shingles. Beneath them lies the plywood layer, known as the roof decking, which serves as the structural foundation of the roof.

Bad Plywood Is Removed
Any sections of the decking showing damage, such as rot or mold - like the sheets seen here - are carefully removed and discarded.

New Plywood Is Installed
Each new sheet of durable CDX plywood is carefully fitted and securely nailed into place, seamlessly replacing the damaged sections.

Skylight Opening Is Cleaned up
The old skylight has been removed, and this crew member is prepping the area for the new skylight installation by cleaning up the old flashing and caulking, ensuring everything is ready for the fresh installation.

Seams Taped & Underlayment Applied
The seams of each plywood sheet in the decking are reinforced with heavy-duty all-weather deck tape. Following that, a layer of underlayment is applied across the entire surface. This thin, water-resistant material serves as a protective barrier, safeguarding the decking from harsh elements like rain, wind, and snow.

New Shingles Go On
With the underlayment securely in place, it's time to begin installing Joe's brand-new IKO Dynasty shingles! These premium-laminated shingles are a top choice at Brown Roofing for their durability and beauty. Joe has chosen the elegant Castle Gray shade for his new roof.

New Skylight Is Installed
A brand-new VELUX skylight is installed in place of the old one. The same process will be repeated for Joe's other skylight, ensuring his home gets an upgrade in sunny style!

New Flashing for the Chimney
The chimney is expertly flashed with durable metal and sealed with caulk. This thin, protective layer ensures that water won't seep into the roof through any vulnerable joints or crevices, keeping the home dry and secure.

The New Roof
With a few final touches, including securing flashing around all the pipes and installing a ridge vent to ensure proper airflow, Joe's brand-new roof is complete and ready to protect his home for years to come!
