Before: Aerial View
From this bird's-eye view of Dean's house, you can see the dark staining caused by roof algae and the moisture buildup that's leading to shingle deterioration. It's definitely time for a roof replacement!

Old Shingles Are Removed
The first step is to remove the old shingles, revealing the plywood layer underneath, known as the roof sheathing. This sheathing serves as the structural foundation of the roof.

Bad Plywood Is Removed
The sheathing is closely examined for any signs of damage, like rot or mold. Any affected parts - like this sheet of plywood right here - are removed and replaced.

Seams Are Taped & Underlayment Is Installed
After all of the new sheathing is securely fitted and nailed into place, the crew tapes down the seams of each plywood sheet with all-weather Sealoron XT deck tape. Next, a layer of underlayment is installed over the entire sheathing. This is a thin, waterproof material that protects the sheathing from harsh elements like rain, wind, snow, and ice.

New Shingles Are Installed
Next, it's time to start installing the new shingles! Brown Roofing stands by the excellent quality of IKO Dynasty premium-laminated architectural shingles. These shingles come in a variety of colors, and Dean has selected the gorgeous Granite Black shade for his new roof.

Ridge Vent Is Installed
Once all of the shingles are installed, the crew adds a vent along the ridges of the roof. This vent promotes proper airflow by allowing hot, moist air rising from the house to escape, helping to prevent damaging condensation buildup.

New Flashing Is Installed on Chimney
The side of the chimney is flashed with a durable, thin metal that acts as a barrier, preventing water from seeping through vulnerable joints and ensuring a watertight seal.

The Finished Product
After a few final touches and a thorough inspection by the crew, the new roof is officially complete!
