Before: Shed
The need for a new roof is even more urgent on John's shed. The significant moss growth is a clear sign of moisture buildup. Definitely time for a roof overhaul!

Old Shingles Are Removed
The crew kicks off their morning by carefully stripping the old shingles off the roof. Before starting, large tarps are carefully laid out to protect the homeowner's property from any debris during the process.

Bad Plywood Removed & Replaced
Once all the shingles are removed, the plywood beneath, known as the roof sheathing, is thoroughly inspected. Any areas with damage, such as rot or mold, are promptly removed and replaced with fresh new plywood.

Seams Are Taped & Underlayment Is Applied
Next, the crew reinforces each sheet of plywood by sealing the seams with all-weather Sealoron XT deck tape. After that, a layer of underlayment is applied over the entire surface. This thin, water-resistant material shields the sheathing from the harsh effects of rain, snow, and ice.

Underlayment on Shed
The same process is happening with the shed as well, with protective underlayment applied to ensure that the shed is just as strong and secure as the main roof.

New Shingles Are Installed
Finally, the crew begins installing the new shingles! Brown Roofing is proud to use IKO Dynasty premium-laminated shingles on all of their roofs backed by an impressive 50-year warranty. These shingles come in a variety of stunning colors, and John has chosen the sleek and sophisticated Summit Gray for both the main roof and the shed.

Ridge Vent Is Installed
Next, a ridge vent is installed at the peak of the roof. This essential vent ensures proper ventilation by allowing warm, moist air to rise and escape from the house, effectively preventing damaging condensation buildup and ensuring the roof's longevity.

The Roof After
After a few final touches, such as securing the ridge vent and making sure all the edges are properly sealed, John's new roof is complete!
