The Old Shingles Come Off

The crew starts by carefully removing the old shingles, revealing the plywood layer beneath, known as the roof decking: the structural foundation that supports the entire roof.

Decking Inspected & Replaced

Ensuring the roof decking is in top condition is crucial. Any areas with signs of rot, decay, or mold are immediately removed and replaced with brand-new, sturdy plywood.

Seams Taped & Underlayment Installed

After inspecting the decking and securing the replaced sections, the crew adds an extra layer of reinforcement by sealing the seams of each plywood sheet with all-weather deck tape. Next, a layer of underlayment is applied across the entire surface. This is a thin, water-resistant barrier that protects the decking from damaging elements like rain, snow, and ice.

New Shingles Go On

Now for the exciting part - installing brand-new shingles! Brown Roofing proudly uses IKO Dynasty premium-laminated shingles for their unmatched quality and durability. Ladd chose the stunning Emerald Green shade, giving both his house and shed a fresh, vibrant look.

Ridge Vent Is Installed

A ridge vent is installed along the peak of the roof, ensuring optimal air circulation. This allows hot, moist air from the attic to escape, preventing condensation buildup and protecting the roof from potential moisture damage.

Chimney Gets New Flashing

Durable new flashing is securely installed along the base of the chimney where it meets the roof. This thin metal barrier effectively prevents water from seeping into vulnerable joints, ensuring long-term protection against leaks.

The Finished Look

With a few final touches, including securing shingles over the ridge vent and adding flashing around the pipe vents, the new roof is finished and ready to stand strong for years to come!
