Before: Loads of Lichen
From this view of the back of the house, you can spot the white spots on Paul's roof. These are lichen, an algae-like plant that thrives in damp areas and causes serious shingle deterioration. Time for a new roof!

Old Shingles Are Removed
The crew kicks off the teardown by carefully removing the old shingles, making way for a fresh start.

Checking the Decking
Beneath the shingles lies the roof's plywood foundation. The crew meticulously inspects each sheet for any signs of rot or mold.

Seams Taped & Underlayment Applied
The experts confirmed the plywood was in top shape. To reinforce its integrity, they tape each seam with heavy-duty deck tape. Then, a protective layer of synthetic felt underlayment is applied to shield the decking from rain, snow, and ice.

New Shingles Go On
With the underlayment securely in place, the crew begins installing the new IKO Dynasty premium-laminated shingles in Paul's chosen color - the rich and beautiful Shadow Brown.

Ridge Vent Installed
At the roof's peak, the crew installs a ridge vent, promoting proper ventilation by allowing hot air to escape and preventing condensation buildup.

Chimney Is Flashed
The crew installs new lead flashing along the chimney, creating a watertight barrier that prevents leaks in vulnerable areas.

The New Roof
With a few final touches, the roof is complete - built to last and looking fantastic!
