Before: Moss Balls
An adorable colony of moss balls were living in the valley of this roof. Just kidding, they're not adorable, they're invasive, and caused by moisture buildup. It's time for a new roof!
The Old Shingles Come Off
The crew kicks off the process by carefully stripping the old shingles from the roof.
Checking the Decking
Removing the old shingles reveals the layer of plywood underneath, which is called the roof decking. As the structural foundation of the roof, its condition is crucial. The crew carefully inspects the decking for any signs of rot, mold, or damage, and removes and replaces any affected pieces.
Underlayment Is Applied
After all of the decking is deemed to be in good condition, the crew starts installing underlayment. This is a layer of thin, waterproof material that protects the decking from rain, snow, ice, and any other harsh elements.
Shingles Are Installed
Finally, it's time to install the shingles! We use IKO Dynasty premium-laminated shingles - some of the best asphalt shingles on the market. Ben chose the brilliant Biscayne color for his roof.
Ridge Vent Installed
Once all the shingles are installed, the crew adds a ridge vent to the peak of the roof. This vent ensures proper airflow, allowing humid air to escape and preventing condensation buildup.
The Finished Product
After a few final touches, the roof is complete - looking flawless and ready to stand the test of time!
