Underlayment Is Applied
While some crew members focus on replacing the damaged plywood, others begin laying down the underlayment on the unaffected sections. This thin, waterproof material acts as an additional layer of protection for the plywood. Specialized Ice & Water Shield underlayment is carefully applied along the roof edges and in the valleys, ensuring extra protection against rain, snow, and ice.
New Shingles Are Installed
Next, the crew begins installing the new shingles: premium IKO Dynasty laminate shingles in the color Summit Gray.
Ridge Vent Is Installed
A ridge vent is installed at the peak of the roof. This vent ensures proper air circulation, allowing hot or humid air rising from the attic to escape, reducing moisture buildup.
Chimney Is Flashed
Flashing - a thin metal barrier designed to prevent water from seeping into vulnerable areas and joints - is installed around the chimney and sealed with heavy-duty caulk.
