Before: Moss Growth Beneath Shingles
A closer look at the shingles reveals moss growing beneath them, a clear sign of trapped moisture. Moss thrives in damp, shaded areas, quickly taking hold and spreading when the conditions are right.
Old Shingles Are Removed
The crew begins by removing the old shingles, exposing the plywood layer known as the roof decking. Once the shingles are off, they carefully inspect the decking for any signs of rot, decay, or mold. Any compromised plywood is promptly replaced with brand-new plywood to ensure a strong foundation for the new roof.
Plywood Is Replaced & Underlayment Is Applied
Next, the crew reinforces the seams of each plywood sheet with heavy-duty deck tape, enhancing the roof's structural integrity. They then apply the underlayment. This is a thin, waterproof barrier designed to protect the decking from rain, snow, and ice.
New Shingles Are Installed
With the underlayment fully in place, the crew moves on to installing the new shingles. For Brian's roof, they are using IKO Dynasty premium laminate shingles in Granite Black, our most popular color.
The Roof Is Complete
With all the shingles in place and a ridge vent installed for proper ventilation, the roof is complete! Brian now has a durable, well-protected roof that enhances both the safety and appearance of his home.
