The Roof Before: Front View
The roof had some stains and lifted shingles, making it clear it was time for an upgrade. Even with cold weather and snow on the ground, our crew had no trouble getting started on the installation.

The Teardown Begins
The crew begins by removing the old shingles from the roof. Beneath them is a layer of plywood, known as the roof sheathing, which serves as the roof's structural framework.

Sheathing on the Back Is Removed
The crew inspects each plywood sheet in the sheathing for signs of rot or mold, removing any damaged sections. In this case, our experts found that every sheet of plywood on the back half of the house needed to be replaced.

Sheathing Is Replaced
The crew installs a brand-new layer of plywood sheets, carefully securing them to the rafters with precision to create a strong, reliable sheathing.

Low-Sloping Roof Underlayment Is Applied
Due to the low pitch (slope) of this section of the roof, the International Building Code requires a special polyester roof to be installed instead of shingles. First, the polyester base is applied. This thin, strong layer ensures that rain, snow, and ice won't penetrate the sheathing, and also helps water to roll off smoothly.

Shingle Roof Underlayment Is Applied
The crew prepares the front side of the house for shingle roofing by applying a layer of underlayment. Similar to the polyester base, this waterproof material protects the sheathing from rain, snow, and ice.

Shingles Are Installed on the Front
The crew moves forward with installing our heavy-duty shingles - IKO Dynasty shingles in Granite Black. This sleek color, chosen by Kelly, is one of our most popular options.

Roof Cap Is Installed on the Back
The top layer of the polyester roof, known as the cap, is laid flat and precisely adhered to the back of the house. Flashing - a thin material that prevents water from seeping through cracks - is applied to the base of the chimney and around the roof's pipes.

The Roof Is Complete
The installation is now complete, and Kelly can enjoy her spectacular new roof, confident that it will protect her home, stand strong against the elements, and remain beautiful for decades to come!
