Before: Moss, Lichen, Mold
Samuel's roof, like many in heavily-shaded forest areas, had a major issue with moss and lichen growth. While checking the attic, Inspector Chase also found extensive rot and mold on the roof decking.
Removing the Old Shingles & Decking
The crew starts by stripping off the old shingles and removing the rotted roof decking. The decking is made up of plywood sheets that form the roof's infrastructure. To prevent mold from spreading, they also treat the rafters with a specialized spray.
Decking Is Replaced & Underlayment Is Applied
The crew carefully measures and secures each sheet of plywood into place. Next, they apply the underlayment - a durable, water-resistant barrier designed to protect the decking from rain, snow, and ice, preventing future rot and mold.
Seams Are Taped
To further strengthen the new decking, the crew secures the seams of each plywood sheet with heavy-cuty SealoronXT deck tape.
The New Shingles Are Installed
Once the underlayment is fully in place, the crew moves on to installing the new IKO Dynasty heavy-weight shingles. For his roof, Samuel chose the sleek Graphite Black color.
The Final Result
The roof is officially complete, featuring brand-new shingles, flashing for superior water protection, and stunning new skylights. Free from moss and mold and backed by our lifetime warranty, it's built to stay strong and beautiful for years to come!
