Shingles Are Removed, Plywood Is Inspected
The crew kicks off the overhaul by removing the old shingles, exposing the plywood beneath, which is called the roof decking. As the structural base of the roof, the decking must be in top shape. Any damaged or rotted sections that come loose during shingle removal are identified and removed by our expert team.
Plywood Is Replaced
Once the damaged plywood is removed, the crew installs brand-new plywood, cutting each piece with precision to ensure a perfect fit.
Underlayment Is Applied
The next step is applying the underlayment. Underlayment is a thin, waterproof barrier that protects the decking from harsh elements like wind, rain, ice, and snow.
New Shingles Are Installed
Next, the crew installs the new IKO Dynasty shingles. These shingles are known for their superior quality and striking color options, of which Jim chose the elegant Brownstone shade.
New Ridge Vent Is Installed
A ridge vent is installed along the peak of the roof, ensuring proper ventilation. By allowing hot, humid air to escape from the attic, it helps prevent moisture buildup and protects the roof from potential damage.
New Pipe Boots Are Installed
To further safeguard the roof from water damage, each pipe is fitted with a Perma-Boot flashing. This added layer of protection ensures that water can't seep through vulnerable joints.
The Roof Is Complete
And with that, the roof is done! With durable new shingles, updated decking, and extra protection against water damage, Jim's home is set up for long-lasting strength and style.
