Roof Before Replacement: Weathered & Rough

Joseph's roof had seen better days, with missing shingles, water stains, and interior leaks all pointing to significant damage.

The Teardown Begins

The crew begins the roof removal process by stripping away the old shingles and tearing off the worn-out underlayment. This thin, water-resistant layer is designed to protect against moisture, but over time, it had lost its effectiveness - which had allowed water damage to take its toll on Joseph's roof.

The Roof Sheathing Is Replaced

Beneath the shingles and underlayment is a layer of plywood known as the sheathing. The sheathing is the structural foundation of the roof. Issues like rot, decay, and mold can compromise its integrity, requiring replacement. After a thorough inspection, our experts determined that the entire sheathing needed to be replaced with brand-new plywood to ensure a strong and durable new roof.

Seams Are Taped & New Underlayment Is Installed

After replacing the old sheathing with brand-new plywood, the crew reinforces it by sealing the seams with heavy-duty SealoronXT deck tape. Then, they roll out and apply the Klaus Roofing Systems Ice & Water Shield underlayment, ensuring long-lasting, waterproof protection for the roof.

Shingles Are Installed & Ridge Vent Is Added

Once the underlayment is fully in place, the crew installs premium IKO Dynasty shingles for a durable, polished finish. They also add a ridge vent at the roof's peak, allowing proper airflow through the attic and helping to prevent moisture buildup.

Copper Flashing Installed on Chimney

Joseph chose to have sleek, durable copper flashing installed around the base of his chimney. Flashing, often made of metal, is a thin, water-resistant barrier designed to prevent water from seeping through joints and intersections, ensuring long-lasting protection.
