Roof Before Replacement
In this bird's eye view, the extensive wear on this decades-old roof is especially visible in the valleys and around the drip edge, where water is most likely to gather.

Removing The Old Shingles
The crew begins the roof replacement by removing the old, worn shingles. Underneath the shingles is a layer of plywood called sheathing. This is the structural foundation of the roofing system, and it is imperative that the plywood shows no signs of rot, damage, or mold.

The Plywood Is Replaced
After our experts examined the sheathing, they determined that all of the plywood exhibited extensive damage and needed to be replaced. The fresh, new plywood is then cut, fit, and properly adhered to the rafters.

Seams Are Taped & Underlayment Is Applied
After all of the plywood is secured, the crew further strengthens the structural integrity of our new sheathing by taping the seams with SealoronXT Deck Tape. After that, an underlayment of Ice & Water shield is applied. This thin, waterproof material protects the plywood from rain, ice, and snow.

Flat Roof Installation
To ensure that this house is up to code, a polyester roof is rolled out and installed on this section where the pitch (slope) is not high enough for shingles. A Polyglass Elastoflex Base underlayment is applied on top of the plywood.

Prepping For Shingle Application
The crew begins their shingle installation by nailing in the aptly named starter shingles at the corner of the house. The crew will then begin to install the shingles from there, following a precise staircase pattern.

The Shingle Installation Nears Completion
The crew finishes up the installation of high-quality IKO Dynasty shingles in the beautiful color of Atlantic Blue.

Completed Flat Roof
The flat roof is topped with a layer of black Polyglass Elastoflex, which is called the cap. This smooth, polyester membrane works best for low-pitch and flat roofs to prevent water buildup.
