Lots of Lichen
This old roof had developed lots of lichen and algae growth. In addition, this roof had obtained multiple leaks. For these reasons, this home needed a brand new roof.
Scraping off the Shingles
This photo shows our crew members scraping the old shingles off of the roof. Our team uses long tarps attached to the roof to collect the shingle debris, and prevent a mess.
The Wood Decking
Once all of the old shingles are removed, the wood decking is revealed. This is when our crew looks for damages, including the reported leaks. The damaged wood is replaced with brand new plywood.
Underlayment
Our crew installed underlayment to the wood decking in order to protect the wood from water damage. The blue tape shown in this photo is decking tape. This tape is applied to all of the edges of the plywood sheets, in order to seal them. The white material at the bottom of the roof is our Ice and Water Shield. Later, our crew will install Velora One underlayment to the rest of the roof.
Shingle Install
Our crew installed new shingles from the bottom of the roof up to the ridge. The shingles are overlapped, which will help force water away from the roof.
Ridge Vent
Now, our crew has finished installing all of the new shingles. Our customer chose the color Granite Black for their new IKO Dynasty shingles. This photo shows our crew installing a ridge vent. This vent will allow hot air to escape the attic, preventing mold and condensation.
The Completed Roof
This roof replacement is now complete. This homeowner can now rest assured that their home is well protected, even during bad weather.
