Stained and Worn Out Shingles
The existing shingles on this roof were worn down and stained. These visual imperfections are more than cosmetic issues, they are warning signs that the shingles can no longer provide the best protection for the home.
Removing the Shingles
Our crew used long tarps attached to the roof to remove the old shingles from the roof. Using the tarps makes it easier for our crew to collect and transport the old shingles, and prevents a big mess.
Wood Decking
Wood decking is a layer of plywood located underneath the shingles. The wood decking needs to be sturdy and strong to support the roof. When water reaches the wood decking, it can cause problems such as leaks, wood rot, and holes. In order to get this new roof off to a great start, our crew removed any damaged wood decking and replaced it with new plywood.
The Crew is Hard at Work
This photo shows our crew installing Ice and Water Shield onto the edge of the roof. Also shown in this photo, are the empty spaces where wood decking has been removed. This wood was damaged and would have put the safety of the roof in jeopardy. Our crew will later install new plywood in these areas.
Completed Underlayment
In addition to Ice and Water Shield, our crew installed another type of underlayment. The brown material toward the top of the roof is Velora One underlayment. These extra layers of protection will keep water away and help keep this home leak free.
Installing the New Shingles
Our crew installs new shingles from the edge of the roof up to the ridge. These shingles are overlapped, preventing water from seeping through any cracks. Our customer chose the color Frostone for their new IKO Dynasty shingles
A Job Well Done
