Stained Shingles
Before a visit from the Brown Roofing crew, this home wasn't looking its best due to visible shingle staining. These stains can be caused by algae, tree debris, or even water. Shingle stains aren't just unpleasant to look at, they can also be a warning sign that the shingles aren't in the best condition. This waring became a reality for this homeowner, when they discovered a serious leak in their home.
Saying Goodbye to the Old Shingles
In this photo, our crew members are beginning to remove the shingles from this roof. Tarps are attached to the roof in order to prevent a mess. As the crew removes the shingles, they look out for any damage on the wood decking underneath. In the case of this home, our team was looking the location of a recent leak.
Replacing the Wood Decking
After old and damaged wood is removed by our crew, brand new plywood is installed. This step is crucial because the wood decking supports the entire roof, and needs to be sturdy and safe.
A Blank Canvas
Now that all of the new plywood has been installed onto the roof, our crew has a fresh surface to work on. Although it doesn't look like much, this "blank canvas" will support all of the material yet to be installed, and keep this home protected.
Protecting the New Roof
Many components go into the protection of a new roof. Our crew installs blue decking tape around each sheet of plywood, in order to seal the edges of the wood decking. Then, they install two types of underlayment, to keep water away from the wood decking. The white material on the edges of this roof is SealoronXT Ice & Water Underlayment. The brown material that our team members are actively applying to this roof is VeloraOne Underlayment.
IKO Dynasty Shingles
The last step of this roof replacement is installing the new IKO Dynasty shingles. Stains and leaks are problems of the past for this owner, because these new shingles provide high-quality protection against the weather, and have built in algae resistance.
Stunning Shingles
This roof transformation is complete, thanks to the Brown Roofing team. The new shingles in the color Frostone look fantastic, and will keep this home safe and dry. In addition, our crew installed a ridge vent onto this new roof, which will help prevent condensation and mold.
