It is Time for a New Roof
The state of the shingles on a roof can be a great indicator of a roof's quality, age, and safety. As the first defense against the elements, shingles must be in good shape, in order to protect the wood decking underneath. From shingles that are stained and worn, such as those on this roof, we can tell that the roof is significantly aged, and may not be preforming very well.
The Crew Removes the Old Shingles
Here our crew is working hard to remove all of the old material from this roof. During this time, the old wood decking is exposed, and our team keeps an eye out for any damaged wood that needs to be removed and replaced.
Damaged Wood Decking is Removed
Any damaged wood decking is removed and replaced with fresh plywood. On the left side of the roof, we can see the exposed wood beams, after damaged wood has been removed. On the right side of the roof, bright new plywood can be seen peeking out from the underlayment, which will later be installed across the entire roof.
Installing Underlayment and Shingles
Two types of underlayment have been installed on top of the wood decking. This will keep water at bay, and prevent water damage such as wood rot and leaks. Also in this picture is one of our crew members overlapping the new shingles while installing them onto the roof. This process prevents water from passing through the cracks in between the shingles.
New Ridge Vent
After the new shingles have been installed, our crew adds a vent to the ride of the roof. This vent will allow hot air to escape from the attic, preventing condensation and mold. New IKO Dynasty ridge caps will be installed on top of the vent.
Stunning New Shingles Complete This Roof
Finally the new roof is fully installed, and it looks amazing. This customer chose the color Atlantic Blue for their new IKO Dynasty shingles.
