Moss was Growing on these Old Shingles
The shingles on this home were aged, faded, and beginning to grow moss. These reasons prompted our customer in Newtown, Connecticut to call the Brown Roofing team to replace their roof.
Scraping Off the Shingles
In this photo, our crew members can be seen scraping shingles off of this roof, onto long tarps. These tarps have been attached to the roof, allowing the crew to easily remove and dispose of the old shingles.
Old Wood Decking
Now that the old shingles have been removed, the old wooding is exposed. The crew will examine the plywood for any damages, and replace it where necessary. During this time, our team will discover any damages from this roof's previous leaks.
Protective Underlayment is Installed
Once the crew has made necessary wood decking replacements, they seal the edges of the plywood with decking tape. Then they install two types of underlayment, which will prevent water from damaging the wood underneath.
IKO Dynasty Biscayne Shingles
Here our crew is installing new IKO Dynasty shingles onto the roof, from the bottom to the top. This customer chose the shingle color Biscayne.
Ridge Vent
After laying down the new shingles, a new ridge vent was installed. This new vent will release hot air from this home's attic, preventing condensation. Condensation can lead to mold growth, and other dangerous forms of water damage. In this photo, we can see one of our crew members installing more shingles on top of the ridge vent, to make sure that this new roof is looking its best.
Amazing New Roof
Another beautiful result is produced by the Brown Roofing team! The new roof not only looks fantastic, but will keep this home protected for many years!
