Covered in Moss
This roof was covered in moss and lichen. The shingles were outdated, and worn out. These problems can cause damage to the roof, and look very unattractive. For these reasons, this customer opted for a roof replacement from our Brown Roofing team.
Old Shingles are Removed
In this photo all of the old shingles, and moss, are removed from the roof. Our crew uses long tarps during the shingle removal process. This tool helps our team to quickly dispose of the old shingles, and get them off of the roof without a mess.
Wood Decking
After all of the shingles are removed, the wood decking underneath is exposed. During this step our team looks for any damaged wood, and replaces it with new wood decking. Wood rot, leakage, or holes can be discovered during this process, sometimes these issues are unknown to the homeowner until the roof is being replaced.
Underlayment is Installed
Here we can see that two types of underlayment have been installed over the wood decking. This will help keep water from damaging the wood decking. Leaks, mold, and wood rot are all possible outcomes of water damage, and can be the result of rain, snow, or ice. Our underlayment helps to keep these problems at bay.
Ridge Vent
At this point in the roof replacement process, new IKO Dynasty shingles have been installed. The shingle color that this customer chose was Biscayne. Now, the team is installing a ridge vent. This will help ventilate the roof, and prevent condensation, which can lead to molding and other kinds of water damage. The vent will later be topped with shingles, providing a seamless look for this new roof.
The Finished Product
This roof transformation has been incredible. A once moss covered roof with worn out shingles, has become a reliable new roof, with beautiful new shingles. This homeowner can now be confidant in the appearance of their home, and it's protection.
