Before!
There was some minimal damages to this roof including algae growth, and color fade in some areas. There is also shingle damage which is why the LoPresti family called us. The shingles were peeling up and this allowed water to potentially drain into the home. They were able to spot this damage before anything happened to the home but there were some leaks in the garage.
DEMO!
It's demo time, here we rip the old shingles up from the house. This is the quickest step in the roof replacement process and definitely the most fun. In this image you can see the black tarps we use to slide the materials down so they stay away from the rest of the house and protect it.
The water damaged decking layer
Once the shingles were ripped up we identified where the leak was coming from and repaired the affected section. We also replaced the soaked insulation to ensure that the new boards do not rot from the inside out.
Decking layer tape and Ice and Water
The decking layer is being taped. This tape is placed on all of the jointed seams of the plywood and helps seal the roof. The white material you see is our Ice and Water and it is placed on all the edges, and valleys. This stops any water that tries to leak though the shingles. On top of all this there will be another layer called the underlayment and this covers all the plywood and overlaps the Ice and Water.
Putting up the roof.
Here our guys are starting to put up the roof on the home. They start at the bottom and work their way up to ensure the shingles are layered properly. The way they are layered and overlap is very important to the integrity of the roof. You can also see the brown underlayment.
Getting ready to shingle the garage
Once the ice and water and underlayment goes up we are ready to put up the new shingles on the garage. They decided on our most popular shingle, IKO Dynasty Granite Black.
The finished roof
The roof is done and it looks beautiful. The IKO Dynasty Granite Black Shingles look amazing with the rest of the house. This house was awesome to work on and it was a pleasure to work with the LoPresti family.
