Before: Concrete & Caulk
The old chimney, constructed from concrete blocks, had a cricket - a small triangular structure that is designed to divert water away from the chimney - coated in a messy, uneven layer of roof cement.

Before: Ground View
The homeowner wanted to replace her aging concrete block chimney with a brand-new brick one, aiming for both improved durability and a more classic aesthetic to complement her home's exterior.

Chimney Is Removed & Underlayment Set
First, the crew completely removes the existing chimney. Then, they install underlayment paper on the wall where the chimney was attached, providing an added layer of protection for both the wall and the new chimney.

New Chimney Starts to Be Built
The masons begin carefully laying bricks, gradually constructing the new chimney, making sure the dimensions are perfect.

Bricks In Place
The bricks are stacked until the chimney extends above the roofline. Near the base, a clean out door is installed, providing easy access for removing accumulated ash and debris.

Cricket Is Updated
With the old, messy chimney cricket removed, the crew is ready to install a new one. They begin by applying Ice & Water Shield, an extra layer of protection to ensure the cricket remains completely watertight and resistant to leaks.

Shingles & Flashing Are Installed
Next, shingles are laid over the cricket, and a thin metal barrier called flashing is installed at the chimney's base. This combination provides a watertight seal while maintaining a seamless, polished appearance.

The Finished Product
With the cap securely in place, the chimney is complete! The homeowner now has a sturdy, beautifully crafted brick chimney built to last for years to come.
