Brown Roofing salesman, Michael Goldberg had a vision. That vision was to assist families in need by providing them with a safe, dry home. In 2021, Michael shared that vision with our owner Eddie Griffin. Roofing for Humanity was born, providing one roof a year to a family in need and despite their own circumstances has given back to their community. Unfortunately, Michael was unable to see his vision become a reality as he passed in late 2021. Eddie carried on with Michael's vision and we installed our first roof to a deserving family in February of 2022, our second in June of 2023 and third in June of 2024.
As in the beginning Michael's family is involved, pouring through nominations to choose each year's recipient. Roofing for Humanity has quickly become a celebration of Michael's life as the entire company turns out for the event. Each year the event solidifies Eddie's attitude of making "giving back a part of our culture" at Brown Roofing.
Nominations for 2025 kick off on February 18th for the fourth Annual Roofing For Humanity project. Tune in to 99.1 WPLR on Tuesday morning, February 18th as Eddie Griffin makes a special announcement on the Chaz & AJ show!
If you know of a deserving veteran, teacher, first responder, volunteer or neighbor who is always there to lend a helping hand in Fairfield, Litchfield or New Haven County that is in need of a new roof and is a true pillar of their community, this is your chance to give back to them. We are excited to honor Michael's vision and memory for the fourth year in a row.
