The Old Siding
Here's a look at the front of Sandra's house before the replacement. Click through to see how we transformed it!

The Teardown
The crew gets to work by first stripping off the old siding. This reveals the plywood foundation underneath, which is known as the sheathing.

The Sheathing
The sheathing is the layer directly applied over the studs and interior insulation of a framed house. To protect it from moisture damage, a vapor barrier, which prevents water vapors and other moisture from penetrating, is often added on top. In this case, the black material you see here is the vapor barrier. Since it's firmly adhered to the sheathing, removing it would risk damaging the plywood, so it's left in place.

The Underlayment
Brand-new vapor barrier - also known as underlayment - is then installed to the entire surface of the home. Next, a layer of insulation is installed over top of that, ensuring superior thermal protection and a strong protective layer for the sheathing.

The New Siding
Now for the exciting part: installing the new siding! Brown Roofing is proud to use ProVia vinyl siding for all of our projects. These Cedar Peak-style shingles come in a range of stunning colors, and Sandra has chosen the elegant Sea Slate for her home.
