The Old Roof
Here's what Jessie's roof looked like before the transformation. Click through to see the amazing results of her roof renovation!

The Teardown
The crew kicks things off by carefully tearing off all of the old shingles. Before they start, large tarps are hung up all around the edges of the roof as well as laid across the yard to ensure the property is fully protected from falling debris as well as paving the way for a more efficient cleanup process.

The Sheathing
Underneath the old shingles is a layer of plywood called the sheathing. This is the structural foundation of the roof, and as such, must be closely examined and confirmed to be free of damage before the new shingles go on. Any areas found with damaged are removed and replaced with strong, sturdy 1/2" CDX plywood.

The Underlayment
With the sheathing good to go, it's time to install the underlayment. This is a thin, water-resistant layer of material that shields the sheathing from harmful elements like rain, wind, snow, or ice.

The New Shingles
After the underlayment is installed over the entire surface of the sheathing, it's time to start installed the brand-new shingles! For her new roof, Jessie has selected the sleek and sophisticated shade of Summit Gray from our prestigious IKO Dynasty collection to beautifully complement her home.

The SBS Base
This lower section of Jessie's roof is too flat for shingles. In accordance with current building codes, a specialized SBS (styrene-butadiene-styrene) roofing system is installed here instead. The first layer of the SBS roof is called the base, and it acts as the underlayment for this section.

The Finished SBS Roof
The top layer of the SBS roof, called the cap, is securely adhered onto the base, completing the SBS roof.

The New Roof
Once the last details were in place and the crew made sure everything was tidy, Jessie's roof was complete!
