Before: Aerial View
This bird's-eye view gives a closer look at the issues with Celestine's old roof. Those dark streaks are roof algae caused by years of moisture buildup. Time to get rid of these worn out three-tab shingles and make way for a new long-lasting roof!

Prepping the Property
Before the crew starts the teardown process, large tarps are set up around the house and yard to ensure that the homeowner's property is completely protected from falling debris.

Old Shingles Are Removed
The crew carefully strips off all of the old shingles. This reveals the layer of plywood underneath, which is called the roof sheathing.

Bad Plywood Is Removed
As the structural foundation of the roof, the health of the sheathing is crucial. Any sections found with damage, such as rot or mold, need to be removed.

New Plywood Is Installed
The crew carefully installs brand-new 1/2" CDX plywood to seamlessly replace the removed sections, creating a sturdy foundation for the new roof. Each sheet is numbered for precise tracking, allowing the team to provide the homeowner with an accurate report of how many were installed.

Seams Are Taped & Underlayment Is Installed
With the sheathing fully secured and the new sheets nailed into place, the crew reinforces the seams of each plywood sheet with heavy-duty all-weather deck tape. Next, underlayment is installed over the entire surface. This thin, waterproof membrane protects the sheathing from harsh elements like rain, wind, snow, and ice.

Ready for the New Shingles
With the underlayment fully in place, the crew installs drip edge flashing along all the roof's edges. This metal component helps direct water away from the fascia and into the gutters, preventing moisture from seeping beneath the roofing and causing damage. Next, they prepare the starter shingles that will be installed over the drip edge flashing.

New Shingles & Ridge Vent Are Installed
It's time to install the new shingles! Celestine has selected the gorgeous shade of Frostone Gray from our premium-laminated IKO Dynasty collection. Next, a ridge vent is installed along the peak of the roof. This vent ensures proper airflow by allowing hot, moist air rising from inside of the house a way to escape, eliminating damaging condensation buildup.

New Flashing Is Installed on the Chimney
New flashing is installed on the side of the chimney where it meets the roof. This thin metal acts as a barrier, preventing water from seeping in through what would otherwise be a vulnerable roof junction.

The Finished Look
After a few finishing touches and a thorough cleanup of the entire property, Celestine's new roof is complete, looking fantastic and built to last!
