The Roof Before
aHere's a look at Eric's roof before the overhaul. Click through to see the awesome transformation!

Before: Misplaced Shingle
Eric's old three-tab shingles are definitely showing their age, with this silly shingle and several others completely out of place. Time for a fresh start - let's get that new roof underway!

The Old Shingles Come Off
The crew kicks things off by stripping off all of the old shingles. Large, heavy-duty tarps are set up around the house and along the yard to ensure complete protection of the homeowner's property as well as paving the way for an efficient cleanup process.

Decking Inspected & Replaced
Beneath the old shingles lies the roof decking - a layer of plywood that serves as the structural foundation of the roof. The crew carefully inspects the decking for any signs of rot, decay, mold, or damage. If any issues are found, they remove the affected sections and replace them with solid, brand-new CDX plywood for a strong, reliable base.

New Chimney Cricket Is Installed
A new cricket is installed on the chimney: a small, peaked roof structure placed at the back of the chimney to direct water away and down the roof. This helps prevent water buildup around the chimney and reduces the risk of potential damage.

Seams Are Taped & Underlayment Is Installed
The seams of all the plywood sheets are sealed with heavy-duty, all-weather deck tape for extra protection. Next, a layer of underlayment is applied across the entire surface. This thin, water-resistant membrane shields the roof from damaging elements like rain, wind, snow, and ice.

New Shingles & Pipe Boots Installed
With the underlayment fully in place, the new IKO Dynasty shingles are installed in Eric's chosen shade of sleek Summit Gray. Next, flashing - a thin, durable material that prevents water from seeping into roof junctions - is carefully applied over each roof pipe, ensuring a watertight seal.

New Cricket Is Completed
The chimney cricket is completed with precisely installed shingles and securely fitted flashing made of thin metal, ensuring a fully watertight seal at this critical junction.

Ridge Vent Is Installed
A shingle vent is installed along the roof ridge, promoting proper airflow by allowing hot, moist air to escape. This helps prevent condensation buildup that could lead to damage over time.

The Roof After
With a few final touches, Eric's new roof is officially complete and ready to stand strong for years to come!
