The Roof Before
Here's what Maynard's roof looked like before the replacement. Click through to see how we transformed it!

Before: Moss Under Shingles
A closer look shows a lot of moss growth under the shingles - indicating heavy moisture and debris buildup that is actively deteriorating the shingles. Let's get this new roof on!

Old Shingles Are Stripped
The crews starts the process by carefully removing the old shingles from the roof. This exposes the plywood layer underneath, which is called the roof sheathing.

Sheathing Is Inspected
As the structural core of the roof, the sheathing must be in tip-top shape. The crew closely examines the entire surface for signs of damage, rot, or decay, and any affected areas - like these ones here - are removed.

Bad Plywood Is Removed
The experts found that most of the sheathing was too damaged to keep. After receiving the go-ahead from Maynard, the crew removed almost all of the old plywood and prepped the rafters for an all new installation.

New Plywood Is Installed
Brand-new sturdy sheets of 1/2" CDX plywood replace the old sheathing. Each sheet is precisely cut to fit securely into the existing framework of the roof. They are also all numbered for easy tracking, so that the crew can accurately report back to the homeowner on how many sheets were installed.

Seams Are Taped & Underlayment Is Installed
Each sheet of plywood is taped at the seams with strong all-weather deck tape. Next, underlayment is installed over this entire surface. This is a thin, waterproof layer of synthetic felt that protects the sheathing from rough conditions like wind, rain, snow, and ice.

New Shingles Are Installed
Next, it's time for the new shingles! Brown Roofing proudly uses IKO Dynasty premium-laminated shingles - known for their durability and beautiful curb appeal - for all roofs backed by our 50-year warranty. Maynard has selected the popular shade of Granite Black for his new roof.

Ridge Vent Is Installed
A shingle vent is installed along the ridge of the roof. This vent ensures proper airflow by allowing hot, moist air rising from inside of the house a way to escape, eliminating the chance of harmful condensation buildup.

New Flashing Is Installed on the Chimney
The chimney receives new flashing around the base where it meets the roof. This thin metal barrier creates a watertight seal, preventing moisture from seeping in through this vulnerable junction.

The Roof After
After a few finishing touches and a thorough clean-up of the premises - the job is complete, and Maynard's new roof is finished!
