The Roof Before
Take a gander at Ana's roof before replacement. These old shingles are ready to go! Click through to see the awesome transformation.

Before: Water Damage
A closer look at the roof shows significant water damage from pooling on this low-sloping section of the roof. Current building codes no longer allow shingles to be installed in an area with such a low pitch for this exact reason. Let's get this fixed!

Shingles Are Stripped & Decking Is Inspected
The crew starts off by stripping the old shingles off, revealing the plywood foundation underneath, which is called the roof decking. As the structural framework of the roof, the decking must be in good health, and any areas that show damage - like this area right here - are removed.

New Plywood Is Installed
Sturdy new plywood is precisely cut and fitted to the dimensions of the removed areas and nailed securely into place.

Underlayment Is Installed
With all of the decking in place, the crew installs underlayment over the entire surface. This is a thin, water-resistant material that protects the decking from severe conditions like wind, rain, snow, or ice.

New Shingles Are Installed
Next, it's time to start installing the new shingles! Brown Roofing proudly uses IKO Dynasty premium-laminated shingles for all roofs backed by our 50-year warranty. Ana has selected the sleek shade of Frostone Gray for her new roof.

SBS Base Is Installed
A specialized SBS (styrene-butadiene-styrene) roof membrane is installed on the low-sloping section of Ana's roof. The first layer, known as the base, is similar to the underlayment that was installed on the shingled sections.

SBS Cap Is Installed
The crew then installs the top layer of the SBS roof, called the cap, over the base. This final layer completes the low-sloping section.

The Roof After
With a few final touches, like installing a ridge vent and cap, as well as securing flashing around all pipes and vents, Ana's stunning new roof is complete and ready to stand strong for years to come!
