The Roof Before
Here's a front view of what Carlos's roof looked like before the replacement. Click through to see the incredible transformation!

Before: Pipe Stains
Water was leaking around the base of the pipe where it met the roof, leaving behind rusty stains on the shingles. Not only is it an eyesore, but it's also a sign of moisture damage. Time to fix that!

Old Shingles Are Removed
The crew begins by stripping off all of the old shingles. This reveals the plywood later underneath, which is called the roof decking.

Bad Plywood Is Removed
As the structural foundation of the roof, the decking must be in tip-top condition. Any plywood showing signs of damage - like this sheet here - is promptly removed and disposed of.

New Plywood Is Installed
Fresh new sheets of sturdy CDX plywood are precisely cut, expertly fitted, and securely nailed into place, ensuring a strong foundation for the new roof.

Seams Are Taped & Underlayment Is Installed
Each new sheet of plywood is numbered for easy tracking, allowing the crew to inform the homeowners exactly how many were installed. Next, all seams are sealed with all-weather deck tape for added durability. To further protect the decking, a layer of underlayment is applied across the entire surface, creating a waterproof barrier against rain, wind, and snow.

New Shingles Are Installed
Now it's time to install the new IKO Dynasty premium-laminated shingles! Each shingle is carefully nailed in using a precise "staircase" formation, ensuring a seamless, polished, and long-lasting finish.

Ridge Vent Is Installed
A vent is installed at each ridge of the roof, ensuring proper airflow. By allowing hot, moist air to escape, these vents help prevent damaging condensation buildup and keep the roof in top shape for years to come.

New Pipe Vent Is Installed
A new pipe vent is installed to replace the rusty old one. It is securely fastened with new flashing, a thin metal material that seals vulnerable junctions, and sealed with caulk to prevent any water from seeping in or out.

The Roof After
After a few more final touches and a thorough double-check, Carlos's new roof is officially complete!
