Removing the Old Shingles
This photo shows the begging of the shingle removal process. Our crew has set up tarps on the edge of the roof to collect the shingles as they are removed. The existing shingles were worn, stained, and had some lichen growth.
Exposed Wood Decking
Now that our crew has removed all of the old shingles, we can see the wood decking that was underneath. This is when our crew looks for damages such as wood rot, holes, or leaks. Any damaged wood will be replaced with new plywood.
Protecting the New Roof with Underlayment
In this photo, bright sheets of plywood can be seen in contrast to the darker sheet. This shows the areas that our crew needed to replace in order to keep this roof safe. All of the boarders of the plywood sheets are sealed with blue decking tape. The white material that our crew is installing in this photo is our Ice and Water Shield. This layer of underlayment will protect the wood decking from water damage.
Shingles and Ridge Vents
Once our crew has installed the new IKO Dynasty shingles on top of the new underlayment, it is time to add the finishing touches to the roof. This photo shows our team members installing ridge vents on the parallel ridges of this roof. Once our crew installs ridge caps on top of these vents, they will blend right in to the new roof. Although they won't be very noticeable, these vents do a very important job. The vents allow hot air to escape the attic, preventing condensation and mold.
The Gorgeous Result
Thanks to high-quality materials, and our incredible crew, this home is looking better than ever. The new IKO Dynasty shingles installed on this new roof are in the color Summit Gray.
