The Roof Before
Take a gander at Miriam's roof before the renovation. Now click through to see how we expertly transformed it!

Before: Lichen Land
This aerial shot gives a better view of why it's so important for a replacement. Those sports are invasive lichen, a plant that thrives on moisture and keeps things moist-causing serious shingle deterioration. Let's get started on that new roof!

The Teardown Begins
The crew starts things off by removing all of the old shingles. Before they do so, they hang up large tarps to catch the falling debris. This protects the property from damage as well as makes cleanup a far more efficient process.

The Sheathing Is Exposed
Underneath the shingles is a layer of plywood called the sheathing. This is the structural foundation of the roof, and it is imperative that it is in good condition before the new roof can be installed. So, the crew closely inspects the entire surface for evidence of damage, like rot or mold, and removes any affected areas.

New Plywood Is Installed
Durable new 1/2" CDX plywood sheets are installed, precisely fit, cut, and securely nailed into place to create a new strong and solid base.

Seams Are Taped
Each new sheet is numbered so that the crew can accurately report back to the homeowner on exactly how many new sheets were installed. As per current building codes, they are all taped up at the seams with heavy-duty all-weather deck tape.

Underlayment Is Installed
Next, it's time for the underlayment. This is a thin, water-resistant membrane that shields the sheathing from damaging elements like rain, snow, or ice.

Almost Ready for the New Shingles
Drip edge flashing is installed around all of the edges of the roof. This is a thin metal barrier that prevents water from seeping into the roof and helps direct it into the gutters. After that, these starter shingles will be installed over top, and we will be ready for the new shingles!

New Shingles Are Installed
For her new roof, Miriam has selected the sleek shade of Graphite Black from our premium-laminated IKO Dynasty collection to gorgeously complement her home!

New Flashing on the Chimney
Just like with the drip edge, thin metal flashing is added around the chimney to block moisture from seeping through and make sure water flows away safely.

The Roof After
With the final details in place, the site cleaned up, and a full inspection done, Miriam's brand new roof is officially complete!
