The Teardown Begins
The crew kicks things off by tearing off all of the old shingles. Before they start the teardown, large tarps are hung around the edges of the roof to ensure that the property is fully protected from falling debris, as well as pave the way for a more efficient cleanup process at the end.

The Sheathing Is Examined
Underneath the old shingles is a layer of plywood called the sheathing. This is the structural foundation of the roof, and as such, must be in tip-top shape before new shingles can be installed. Any sections found with damage, like rot or mold, need to be removed.

New Plywood Is Installed
Sturdy new 1/2" CDX plywood is precisely cut and securely nailed into place, ensuring a solid and strong base for the new roof.

Underlayment Is Installed
With the sheathing set, it's time to install the underlayment. This layer of thin, waterproof material protects the plywood from harsh elements like rain, snow, and ice.

New Shingles Are Installed
Next, we're ready for the new shingles! For her new roof, Patricia has selected the beautiful shade of Biscayne from our premium-laminated IKO Dynasty collection to perfectly complement her home.

Ridge Vent Is Installed
A shingle vent is installed along the ridges of the roof to allow proper airflow by giving hot, humid air rising from the attic a way to escape, preventing damaging condensation buildup.

New Flashing Is Installed on the Chimney
A thin metal barrier, called flashing, is installed around the sides of the chimney where it meets the roof, creating a watertight seal.

The Finished Look
With the final details in place, the site cleaned up, and a full inspection wrapped, Patricia's brand new roof is officially complete!
