The Roof Before
This is what Elaine's roof looked like before the renovation. Click through to see the stunning transformation!

Prepping the Property
Before the crew begins, large tarps are laid across the house and yard to fully protect the homeowner's property from falling debris. In addition, these tarps also allow for a more efficient cleanup process.

The Teardown Begins
The crew carefully strips all of the old shingles off, revealing the plywood layer underneath, which is called the roof sheathing.

New Plywood Is Installed
As the structural foundation of the roof, the health of the sheathing is crucial. Any areas found with damage, such as rot or mold, are removed and replaced with strong new CDX plywood, ensuring a solid base for the new roof.

Seams Are Taped & Underlayment Is Installed
The seams of all of the sheets of plywood are taped up with heavy-duty all-weather deck tape. Then, the underlayment is installed over the entire surface. This thin, waterproof membrane shields the roof from damaging elements like rain, snow, wind, or ice.

New Shingles Are Installed
With the underlayment securely in place, it's time to install the new shingles! For her new roof, Elaine has selected the stunning shade of Atlantic Blue from the IKO Dynasty premium-laminated collection.

The Roof After
Ridge vents and caps are secured along the peak of the roof, and flashing is secured around both chimneys and the roof pipe. With that, Elaine's new roof is complete!
