Before: Improper Shingle Activity
Here's a peek at Ronald's roof before the upgrade. While there's some wear and tear, along with a little algae growth, the biggest concern is that this flat section is against current building codes. Keeping shingles here could cause major damage over time. Time to fix this up! Click through to see the sleek transformation!

The Teardown
The crew starts by stripping off the shingles, which exposes the decking underneath - the plywood foundation of the roof. This decking is closely inspected for any signs of damage like rot or mold, and any affected areas are removed. The crew found that most of the decking was in need of replacement.

New Plywood Is Installed
Brand-new, durable CDX plywood is installed where the old decking was removed. Each sheet of plywood is carefully numbered for easy tracking, so the crew can keep the homeowner informed about exactly how many sheets were used in the project.

Base Is Installed
The new Polyglass Elastoflex roof is made up of two layers: the base and the cap. First, the base layer is rolled out and securely adhered to the decking. This base layer serves as a protective underlayment, guarding the roof against moisture damage caused by harsh elements like rain, snow, and ice.

After: Flat Is Where It's At
The cap layer is then carefully installed over the base, expertly adhered using a blowtorch to ensure a strong bond. The Chestnut color perfectly complements the rest of Ronald's shingled roof. With that, his new flat roof is complete, offering durability and style for years to come!
