The Old Roof
Here is a look at Mark's roof before renovation. Click through to see how we transformed it!

Before: Mossy Shingles
Moss had completely taken over the gaps between Mark's old shingles, and that's never a good sign. Time to clear it out and give him a brand-new roof!

The Teardown Begins
The crew kicks off the job by stripping the old shingles off of the roof. Large tarps are set up beforehand to catch the falling debris, as well as protect the homeowner's property from any damage.

The Roof Decking
Underneath the shingles is a layer of plywood called the roof decking. The roof decking is the structural foundation of the roof. Any pieces found with damage, such as rot or mold, and removed and replaced with brand-new sturdy plywood.

Seams Are Taped & Underlayment Is Applied
Once all of the new plywood is securely nailed into place, the crew reinforces each sheet by taping up the seams with all-weather heavy-duty deck tape. Next, a layer of underlayment is rolled out and installed over the entire surface. This thin, waterproof membrane protects the decking from harsh elements like rain, wind, snow, or ice.

Ridge Vent Installed
A shingle vent is installed along the ridge of the vent. This ensures proper air circulation within the roof and home by allowing hot, humid air that rises a way to escape, preventing damaging condensation buildup.

Chimney Is Flashed
New flashing is installed around the chimney where it meets the roof. This thin metal barrier prevents water from entering through an otherwise vulnerable junction.

The New Roof
After a few final touches and a thorough double-check of the entire premises, Mark's new roof is officially complete!
