Before: Front View
Here's a look at Matt's garage before we replaced his roof. As you can see in the top right, a trusty tarp was holding things together. Click through to see the incredible transformation and how we said goodbye to that tarp for good!

Before: Mossy Back
The back of the garage was even worse, with moss growing all over. Let's tackle that and make this roof look brand new!

The Teardown Begins
The crew starts by removing the old shingles, setting up large, heavy-duty tarps beforehand to protect the property from debris and make the cleanup process quicker and easier.

Decking Is Examined & Replaced
Underneath the shingles is a layer of plywood, which is called the roof decking, and it is the structural foundation of the roof. The crew carefully inspects the entire decking for any signs of damage, like rot or mold, and the affected areas are promptly removed and replaced with fresh new plywood.

Seams Taped & Underlayment Installed
Once the decking is secure, the crew reinforces the seams of each plywood sheet with all-weather Sealoron XT deck tape. Then, they apply a layer of underlayment over the entire surface. This thin, waterproof material acts as a protective barrier, keeping the plywood foundation safe from harsh weather conditions like rain, snow, or ice.

New Shingles Are Installed
Next, the crew starts installing the new IKO Dynasty premium-laminated shingles. These top-of-the-line shingles, chosen for their strength and style, come in a variety of colors, and Matt selected the sophisticated shade of Shadow Brown for his new roof.

Ridge Vent Is Installed
A ridge vent is installed at the peak of the roof to ensure proper ventilation. This vent allows hot, moist air to escape from the attic, preventing harmful condensation buildup and promoting healthy airflow throughout the home.

The Finished Look
After a few final touches, like installing ridge vents and caps, and a thorough check of the entire perimeter for any debris, Matt's garage roof is complete and looking fantastic!
