The Roof Before
Here's a look at Gerard's house before the renovation. Even from quite a distance, you can see the color discrepancies in the shingles. It's time for a change! Click through to see the transformation!

Old Shingles Are Removed
The crew kicks things off by stripping the old shingles from the roof. Before they begin, large, heavy-duty tarps are carefully set up to protect the house from falling debris and make the cleanup process faster and more efficient.

New Plywood Is Installed
Underneath the shingles is a layer of plywood which is called the roof decking. The roof decking is the structural foundation of the roof, and its health is essential. Any areas found to have rot, decay, mold, or any other type of damage are removed and replaced with brand-new sturdy CDX plywood.

Seams Taped & Underlayment Goes On
With the decking secured, the crew reinforces each sheet of plywood by sealing the seams with all-weather Sealoron XT deck tape. After that, a layer of underlayment is applied over the entire surface. This thin, water-resistant material shields the sheathing from tough elements like rain, snow, and ice.

New Shingles Are Installed
It's time to install the new IKO Dynasty premium-laminated shingles! These shingles are Brown Roofing's top choice for their durability and beauty. They also come in a variety of aesthetic shades, and Jerry has selected the sleek and sophisticated Cornerstone for his new roof.

New Copper Roof for the Bay Window
Jerry also opted for a stunning standing seam metal roof over his bay window, crafted from elegant, eye-catching copper.

New Copper Valleys
In addition, Jerry selected copper valley flashing for his roof - a durable, long-lasting solution designed to protect areas where two slopes meet. This high-quality material prevents leaks and water damage while offering exceptional resistance to rust and harsh weather. Plus, its longevity and timeless appeal make it a smart investment for any roof.

Ridge Vent Is Installed
After all of the shingles are in place, a shingle vent is installed on all of the ridges of the roof. This vent ensures proper air circulation by allowing hot, moist air that rises from the house a way to escape, eliminating damaging moisture buildup. A ridge cap that matches the Cornerstone shingles is installed over the vent for a seamless finish.

The Roof After
After a few final touches and a detailed final inspection, Jerry's brand-new roof is officially complete!
