Before: Kennel
In addition to Geoff's main house, the crew will also be replacing the roof of his kennel house. Time to give both structures the upgrade they deserve! Let's get to work!

The Old Shingles Come Off
The first step is to carefully remove the old shingles from the roof. To ensure the property stays protected, heavy-duty tarps are spread out to catch falling debris, and sheets of plywood are placed against the windows to prevent any potential damage.

The Decking Is Exposed
As the old shingles are stripped away, the plywood foundation is revealed. This is the structural core of the roof, and the crew will carefully inspect it for any signs of damage such as rot, decay, or mold. Any affected areas are promptly removed, disposed of, and replaced with fresh, sturdy plywood to ensure the integrity of the roof.

Seams Are Taped & Underlayment Is Installed
As the crew works on fitting the new plywood into place, other team members tape up the seams of the existing plywood sheets with all-weather deck tape. Then, they apply a layer of underlayment over the entire surface. This thin, water-resistant material acts as a protective barrier, shielding the decking from rain, snow, ice, and other harsh elements. Once the new plywood sheets are securely in place, they will also be treated with the same protective layer to ensure durability and long-lasting protection.

The New Shingles Go On
The same process is repeated for the kennel house, ensuring that everything is thoroughly protected. Now, it's time to install the brand-new, top-quality IKO Dynasty shingles. These shingles are not only durable but also add an incredible aesthetic appeal. Geoff selected the stunning and popular shade of Granite Black for both his main house and kennel.

Ridge Vent Is Installed
After the shingles are in place, the crew installs a ridge vent at the peak of the roof. This crucial step ensures proper airflow by allowing hot, moist air rising from the house to escape. It helps prevent damaging moisture buildup, which could lead to issues like mold or rot, keeping the roof healthy and extending its lifespan.

After: Main House
After a couple of final touches, like securing the ridge vent with a ridge cap, sealing all other vents with flashing, and installing a beautiful new VELUX skylight, Geoff's new roof is complete! The transformation is stunning, and his home is now more durable, efficient, and visually appealing than ever before.

After: Kennel
The kennel house is complete as well and looks fantastic! The new roof adds a polished, durable touch, ensuring it stands strong and complements the main house beautifully.
