Roof Before Replacement

Old Skylights Surrounded by Moss
Years of water damage had taken a toll on the old roof, resulting in small attic leaks, stained shingles, and moss growth, as shown in this picture. Moss forms when moisture combines with organic debris trapped between shingles, reducing a roof's lifespan.
Shingles Are Removed
The crew starts by stripping away the old shingles, revealing the plywood underneath, also known as sheathing. As the foundation of the roof, the sheathing must be carefully inspected for signs of weathering, decay, and mold.
Seams Are Taped & Underlayment Is Installed
Our expert installers found the sheathing to be in great shape, meaning that no sheets of plywood needed to be replaced. The crew then seals the seams of the plywood with durable SealoronXT deck tape before applying the underlayment - a thin, water-resistant layer designed to protect against ice, rain, and snow.
New Skylights Are Installed
New VELUX skylights are installed, replacing the old ones for improved performance and natural light.
Shingles Are Installed
Once the underlayment is fully in place, the crew begins installing IKO Dynasty shingles in the homeowner's chosen color of Summit Gray.
Ridge Vent Is Installed
Next, the crew installs a ridge vent at the peak of the roof. By allowing warm, humid air to escape, it helps prevent moisture buildup and potential damage.
The Installation Is Complete
The job is done! Joseph now has a brand-new roof, top-quality skylights, and even a new chimney installed by our expert chimney crew. His new roof is sure to keep his home protected while looking great for years to come.
